Yuba Swabhiman Diwas

The birthday of Soumya Ranjan Patnaik, founder of Sambad, was celebrated as Yuva Swabhimaan Diwas on August 18 with a grand event organized at Kanak Manjari Brajabandhu College of Engineering (KMBB), Dalaiput.

The celebration was presided over by the college Principal, Dr. Amarnath Nayak, with Chairman Shri Soumya Ranjan Patnaik attending as the guest of honour. During the event, Shri Patnaik cut his birthday cake and addressed the audience, highlighting the positive transformation of the college. “In the changing times, the college has improved significantly,” he said, adding that student interest in the institution is steadily growing. He referred to the college community as a “family” and urged both staff and students to welcome new members with respect and maintain a spirit of brotherhood.

As a token of appreciation, social worker Dr. Sanjay Patnaik and Khurda Block Vice President Prakash Samantray presented Shri Patnaik with a paik turban and a ceremonial sword. To mark the occasion, Shri Patnaik also released several parrots into the sky, symbolizing freedom and aspiration. A new book was unveiled during the event.

Students of KMBB College added to the festive atmosphere with vibrant performances of dance and music. The program began with a welcome speech by Ajay Kumar Panda. Prominent attendees included senior Congress leaders Shishir Parida, Mohammad Kefatullah, Nasim Uddin Khan, along with college staff, students, and well-wishers.
